Carter Matthew Thurber 2/20/14

Thursday was supposed to be my last day of work but Carter had other plans. I had my 39 week appointment that morning, my doctor said he thought I would deliver sometime in the upcoming week and he wanted me to get an ultrasound that day because I was still measuring small as I had been the whole pregnancy. He said if baby is small then we would induce that day which made me nervous. I went home before my ultrasound and it was then I realized that the irregular cramping I had been having all night was becoming stronger and much more regular. On the ultrasound everything looked good so no need to induce but I guess Carter was ready to come because contractions kept coming all afternoon.  I decided to stay home from work because I was sure today was the day. I just stayed home, tried to relax, walked around and drank lots of water but nothing was changing and contractions were getting pretty strong so I let Kevin know it was time to come home so we could head to the hospital. We were so excited and also nervous! We got to the hospital around 3, got an epidural around 8 and Carter arrived shortly after.  Overall it was a great experience and I would do it again. There is nothing like holding my little boy for the first time. He has changed our lives so much and brought so much happiness and joy into our lives. We love him so very much.
