1 month old!

I can't believe my little boy is already 1 month old! Time is flying by. He has already gotten so much bigger. He is much more alert, I love when he looks right at me. He loves baths, especially when I wash his hair-he likes having his head rubbed. He can smile-he will be staring straight into my eyes when I am talking to him and give me a big grin, so I'm pretty sure its not just gas. He loves to snuggle. He usually sleeps for 3-4 hours and then 2-3 hours a night. We had a bit of a rough time at first, Carter was losing too much weight but with supplementing with a bottle he is gaining weight well now.  At his 2 week check up he was 6 lbs 8 oz and 20 inches long.  We have so much fun watching all of his facial expressions. He cracks us up! We love to see him smile and hear him coo. It has been a hard month but its all worth it. We love having Carter in our family. Here are some pictures from his first month.
The day we brought him home from the hospital he gave us a big smile:)

Our little blonde boy. Although now it seems to be getting darker and a little red...I'm not sure what color it will end up being. Strawberry blonde maybe.

First bath! He loves having his hair washed, gets all relaxed and closes his eyes every time.

All cuddly after his bath:)

Tummy time! Every time he tries to lift his head up his butt lifts in the air too-his head is just too heavy:) Cracks me up:)

He is quite the little thinker. He wrinkles his eyebrows like this and will look straight at you.

One month old!

We love our sweet and silly boy more and more everyday:)

Carter Matthew Thurber 2/20/14

Thursday was supposed to be my last day of work but Carter had other plans. I had my 39 week appointment that morning, my doctor said he thought I would deliver sometime in the upcoming week and he wanted me to get an ultrasound that day because I was still measuring small as I had been the whole pregnancy. He said if baby is small then we would induce that day which made me nervous. I went home before my ultrasound and it was then I realized that the irregular cramping I had been having all night was becoming stronger and much more regular. On the ultrasound everything looked good so no need to induce but I guess Carter was ready to come because contractions kept coming all afternoon.  I decided to stay home from work because I was sure today was the day. I just stayed home, tried to relax, walked around and drank lots of water but nothing was changing and contractions were getting pretty strong so I let Kevin know it was time to come home so we could head to the hospital. We were so excited and also nervous! We got to the hospital around 3, got an epidural around 8 and Carter arrived shortly after.  Overall it was a great experience and I would do it again. There is nothing like holding my little boy for the first time. He has changed our lives so much and brought so much happiness and joy into our lives. We love him so very much.
